Specialist Disability Accommodation
in the Illawarra

Everyone deserves a home that feels safe, comfortable and right for the way they live. Specialist Disability Accommodation, known as SDA, is housing designed for people with very high support needs or significant functional impairment. Across the Illawarra, we help you explore housing options that give you more independence, while making sure the support you need is close by.

We’re BB Disability & Health Services, a registered NDIS provider based in Dapto. Our team has a strong background in disability, mental health and social work, and we support people across Wollongong, Dapto, Shellharbour, Kiama and the wider Illawarra.

Finding the right home can feel like a lot to take in. You may be living with family, in a place that no longer suits your needs or waiting for the right option to come along. We’ll listen to what matters to you, explain things in plain language and help you take the next step when you feel ready.

What Could an SDA Home Actually Give You?

What Could an SDA Home Actually Give You

No two people need the same thing from a home. Some want more room to move safely, others are after features that make daily tasks lighter, someone nearby, or simply a space that feels peaceful.

A Look at What SDA Support Might Involve

  • Your space: Built around accessibility, safety, and everyday comfort.
  • Your routine: Help with personal care, meals, household tasks, and the small things that settle a day.
  • Your independence: Room to move freely, make your own calls, and manage what you’re able to on your own terms.
  • Your future: A home that fits where you’re at now, with space to grow more confident over time.
SDA covers the physical home, while Supported Independent Living is the support that runs day to day inside it. We’ll walk through the difference using plain words, not confusing forms. Whenever you’re ready, say hello or make a referral and we’ll take it from there.

Why the Illawarra Trusts Our NDIS Support

  • We’re a local NDIS provider, not a call centre somewhere else, and we know the Illawarra and its communities.
  • We reply within 2 working hours on any weekday, not when we get around to it.
  • Mental health support is part of what we do every day, not something added on at the end.
  • We support people with physical, intellectual and psychosocial disabilities.
  • Our SDA homes are modern, comfortable and designed with accessibility and safety in mind.
  • We understand that choosing a home is personal, and we take the time to listen to what matters to you.
  • You stay in charge. We ask, we listen, and we adjust as your needs change.
  • We’re fully registered with the NDIS and follow the NDIS Practice Standards in the way we support people.

A home should never feel like just another service. It should be a place where you can feel comfortable, keep your routine and live life in a way that feels like your own.

What Happens Once You Take That First Step?

Say hello, whenever suits you

No need to have every answer ready. Call 1300 070 724 or send us an email, and we’ll take it from there together, gently.

Tell us what you need from a home

We’ll talk through where you’re living now, what’s working, what’s difficult, and what would help you feel safer and more independent.

Let’s look at what could suit you

If SDA looks like the right fit, we’ll walk through the homes or options available to you. If a different kind of accommodation support suits better, we’ll help you understand that too. Take it at your own pace, take whatever time you need to reach out or make a referral.

Where Do We Support SDA Across the

Illawarra?

We support SDA participants across Wollongong, Dapto, Kiama, and the wider Illawarra. We currently have SDA homes at Horsley and Moss Vale. Horsley sits close to Wollongong and the wider Illawarra, while Moss Vale suits participants looking toward the Southern Highlands instead.

If the right home isn’t available in the exact spot you first had in mind, we can still talk through your options and what might genuinely be possible. Choosing a home takes time, and every step of it should feel comfortable, not rushed.

Alongside SDA, we also offer Supported Independent Living, In-Home Support, Community Access and Activities, Support Coordination, and Psychosocial Recovery Coaching. Many people combine more than one service, so it’s always worth asking what else could fit your plan, your goals, and your home life.
