Supported Independent Living, known as SIL, makes that possible, someone close by for cooking, cleaning, personal care, and building confidence at your own pace. As a trusted SIL provider in Wollongong, our support fits around your everyday life here, close to the cafes, the harbour, and the local spots you already love.

We’re BB Disability & Mental Health Services, a registered NDIS provider, guided by the BB Trust and a team of senior social workers and mental health professionals. We’re your neighbours, not a big company, and we’ve supported people across Wollongong, Shellharbour, Kiama, Nowra, Moss Vale and the wider Illawarra and Shoalhaven for years.

Moving into a place of your own is a big step, bigger still if you’re also carrying a disability or a mental health condition. We currently have SIL and SDA vacancies open across the Illawarra, including homes close to Wollongong in Wongawilli and Horsley.

What Your Days Could Look Like

Everyone’s different, so no two routines look quite the same. With SIL support in Wollongong, your days might include a few hours of help, or someone with you around the clock, whatever fits your NDIS plan and your life.

What a week might look like

  • Mornings: a hand getting ready, a reminder to take medication, breakfast made together or on your own.
  • Weekdays: cooking, shopping, cleaning, and slowly building skills like budgeting or catching the bus with confidence.
  • Evenings: winding down, getting ready for tomorrow.
  • Weekends: a slower pace, time for hobbies, family, or whatever brings you joy that week.

SIL is usually funded through your NDIS plan under Core Supports, and how much you’re funded comes down to your assessed needs. We’ll sit with you and work out what’s realistic, in words that make sense, with no paperwork panic. We support SIL participants across Wollongong and the wider Illawarra, Shoalhaven and Southern Highlands. We also run SIL support in Illawarra, Dapto, Nowra and Kiama, so if Wollongong isn’t the right fit geographically, one of these might sit closer to home.
Alongside SIL, we offer Specialist Disability Accommodation and Support Coordination right here in Wollongong too. Many people use more than one service together, so it’s worth asking what else might fit your plan.
