Supported Independent Living in Kiama

A good home gives you more than a place to live, it gives you comfort, confidence, and the right support to do more for yourself each day. Supported Independent Living, or SIL, provides help with daily life while you build skills, follow your own routine, and work toward greater independence. In Kiama, we help you explore what home support could look like for you.

We’re BB Disability & Mental Health Services, a registered NDIS provider based in Dapto, with a team bringing real experience in disability support, mental health, and social work. SIL is available to participants in Kiama, across the Illawarra, and throughout the Shoalhaven.

Maybe you’re thinking about moving out of the family home, considering shared living, or looking for support that builds your confidence at home. These decisions take time, and that’s completely fine. We listen to what you actually want from your home life and help you understand the options at your own pace.

Everyday Life, With a Little Help

How Your Days Might Look in Kiama

SIL is about having genuine support around the tasks that feel difficult, while your own choices still shape your life. Some people need help at specific times, others need something more regular through the day and night.

How Your Days Might Look

  • Starting the day: Personal care, getting dressed, breakfast, a medication reminder where that’s part of your plan, or planning what’s ahead.
  • Through the week: Meals, shopping, cleaning, laundry, keeping the home organised, and working on skills like budgeting or meal planning.
  • Evenings: Dinner, your own space to unwind, time with housemates, or getting set for tomorrow.
  • Weekends: People you care about, community activities, hobbies, or simply time to rest at home.

SIL gives you support with everyday living while helping you build confidence in what genuinely matters to you. We’ll talk through your needs, goals, and NDIS plan in words that make sense, so you know what’s actually possible. When you’re ready, say hello or make a referral and we’ll start together.

How This Actually Begins

Say hello, whenever suits you

No need to have SIL fully figured out first. Call 1300 070 724 or send us an email, and we’ll begin with a straightforward, unhurried chat.

We’ll talk through where you’re living now, what you’d like to do more independently, the support you need each day, and what makes a home feel right for you.

Let’s explore support that fits

If SIL looks like a good option, we’ll explain the next steps and talk through suitable arrangements. If something else fits better, we’ll help you understand that too.

Take whatever time you need, reach out or make a referral whenever it feels right.
