The place you live should support your life, not make everyday things harder. Specialist Disability Accommodation, or SDA, is housing built for NDIS participants with very high support needs or significant functional impairment. For anyone living in Kiama, we can help you understand what SDA actually means, what’s available, and what the next step could look like.
We’re BB Disability & Mental Health Services, a registered NDIS provider based in Dapto, with a team bringing real experience in disability support, mental health, and social work. SDA support is available to participants in Kiama, across the Illawarra, and throughout the Shoalhaven.
Finding suitable housing can feel like a lot. Maybe your current home no longer meets your needs, maybe you’re after more accessible space, or maybe you’re just trying to work out whether SDA is right for you. You don’t need every answer before reaching out, we listen to what matters to you and help make things clearer.
What a Home Could Actually Offer You in Kiama

A suitable home genuinely shapes your comfort, safety, and confidence. SDA is about having a place designed around the level of support and accessibility you actually need in everyday life.
What SDA Might Mean for You
- A home that supports you: Space and features designed to make daily living feel easier.
- More confidence at home: A living environment that helps you move around, use your space, and manage routines more comfortably.
- Afternoons: catching up with friends, visiting family, spending time outdoors or enjoying the local places you like being around.
- More choice in your future: A home that gives you room to live with greater independence and dignity.
SDA covers the property itself. Supported Independent Living is about help with daily tasks like personal care, cooking, cleaning, and routines. Some people use both, others need something different entirely. We’re happy to explain the difference in words that make sense. When you’re ready, say hello or make a referral and we’ll start together.
Do We Actually Have SDA Homes for Kiama Participants?
We support SDA participants in Kiama and across the surrounding Illawarra, and it’s worth being upfront here: our current SDA homes sit in Horsley and Moss Vale, not physically in Kiama itself. We’re still happy to help Kiama participants understand what’s genuinely available and talk through what could suit their needs.
Staying connected to family, friends, and familiar parts of the community can genuinely matter when choosing a home. Availability changes, and finding the right option can take time, we’re here to talk through it with you.
Alongside SDA, we also offer Supported Independent Living, In-Home Support, Community Access and Activities, Support Coordination, Psychosocial Recovery Coaching, and Short-Term and Medium-Term Accommodation. Sometimes the right housing decision means looking at more than one kind of support, and we’re happy to help you see how they could fit together.

SDA Support a Little Beyond Kiama
Not sure what’s nearest to you? We also support SDA participants in Wollongong, Dapto, Nowra, Moss Vale, and across the wider Illawarra, or call 1300 070 724 and we’ll help point you the right way.

What Our Families Say
Finding a home that genuinely meets someone’s needs takes patience, care, and many conversations. We’re honoured whenever a family chooses to let us be part of that process.
